Programme and project delivery in New Zealand

Practical leadership for complex technology and infrastructure projects. TandemIT brings programme and project management, governance and multi-workstream coordination together, with Brett Hawthorne directly leading each engagement.

Speak With TandemIT

A delivery plan that connects the workstreams

A programme can have detailed plans for individual suppliers and still lack a workable overall sequence. Technical delivery, site readiness, operational change and customer decisions need to fit together. Dependencies become particularly important when several workstreams share sites, resources or a cutover window.

TandemIT supports programme mobilisation, integrated delivery planning and multi-workstream coordination. Programme and project management covers scope, schedule and cost control, stakeholder engagement and vendor management. The purpose is to make the route to delivery visible and keep it connected to the organisation's operational needs.

Governance as a practical delivery discipline

Governance needs to help sponsors make decisions while there is still time to act. Reports should show where the programme stands, which risks or dependencies need attention and what decisions are required. A reporting cycle on its own does not resolve unclear responsibilities or an unrealistic delivery plan.

TandemIT's capabilities include governance frameworks, risk, assumption, issue and dependency management, executive reporting and delivery assurance. The national communications case study records governance and executive stakeholder engagement alongside financial oversight, benefits tracking and integrated planning. These are stated engagement contributions, not a guarantee of an outcome for another programme.

When a programme needs recovery or an independent view

A challenged programme may need a different starting point from a new one. Delivery assumptions, the supplier relationship and the governance arrangements may all need examination before a revised plan can be agreed. Recovery work should distinguish immediate stabilisation from the actions needed to sustain delivery.

Programme Recovery & Stabilisation and Programme Assurance Reviews remain distinct service areas. Recovery support includes health assessments, governance reset, vendor remediation and recovery planning. Assurance reviews assess governance, risk, reporting and delivery capability, with findings and priority recommendations for sponsors.

Keeping operational readiness in the delivery plan

Finishing the technical installation does not necessarily mean an organisation is ready to use the system. Acceptance, training, cutover and the transition into operations need to be coordinated with the rest of the programme. This is especially important where operational services must continue during implementation.

TandemIT's delivery experience includes critical communications, operational technology and government information management. The examples below show different engagement contexts: programme leadership, recovery and governance support. They should be read individually rather than treated as evidence that every project had the same scope or results.

Typical engagement deliverables

The scope and deliverables are agreed for each engagement, rather than assumed to apply to every project.

  • Governance frameworks and executive reporting
  • Risk, issue and dependency reporting
  • Programme health assessment and recovery plan
  • Executive assurance findings and priority recommendations
  • Operational readiness and acceptance planning
